This is a cutthroat business, but few of us are as terrible as our actions would lead one to believe. Insecurity and competition make us all monsters. His expression betrays his happiness to see me, and then immediately pinches inward and he returns to the conversation with Brad. I was coming for Carter. Of course, he has no way of knowing that.

But the hesitation in his face makes me hesitate, taking a detour toward the tray of wine headed in my direction. Swiping a glass, I say hello to a few colleagues and stand admiring the towering Christmas tree on the far end of the room. Each ornament is gold, but there are enormous balls and tiny balls; horses, sleighs, and snowflakes. The tree seems to shimmer beneath the warm light of the room. I roll my eyes and turn to make my way over there.

I smile at him, then turn to Brad. How cool! My game face is always on. The only vaginas they want on their trip are the ones two inches from their faces at the strip clubs.

right! So

He shifts on his feet. An added bonus? Those of us who are left, anyway. Yeah, Here Today. Ever heard of it? I shake my head. Demand equal pay and recognition for your hard work. If you are a fan of books that make you laugh out loud and the enemies to lovers troupe, this is a must read!

Carter and Evie were set up by their mutual friends who were a hoot! It seemed like there would be a few dates and maybe even a relationship in their future. Then the merger happened. Both of them are married to their job and 4 stars! Both of them are married to their job and when their jobs were on the line, things changed. Hence the enemies to lovers story line.

I think it was great to see this side of the corporate world. I thought the plot was very well done. Evie and Carter had so much chemistry and the story had just enough steam. It was highly entreating and a lot of fun to read!

I thought t When Evie's friend sets her up with Carter, at a Halloween party, Evie is initially embarrassed but can't help but admit that they've hit it off.

I thought the book was cute, and it's clearly aimed at a certain demographic of women but I don't care that I might not fall into it, I still enjoyed reading it. It's a romance novel so I wouldn't read it expecting something deep but that said I thought that all the back and forth between Carter and Evie was really well done and their relationship developed in a way that made it feel really natural instead of the usual love at first site crap.

criticising advise

Also I love Evie and how she bought 3 doughnuts to eat in the morning like literally me too man. I also thought the portrayal of work place sexism was pretty well done and Carter's eventual realization of what was happening and attempts at acknowledging it and trying to help was pretty cool.

Oct 25, Cristina CristiinaReads rated it it was amazing Shelves: arc-books. It is packed full of their usual snarky banter, and a Hero and Heroine that readers are sure to fall in love with. They instantly hit it off and end up going out on a date a week later, which turns out to be pretty phenomenal. To make matters worse, it turns out they are now working in the same department and their douche of a boss is making them compete against each other for a permanent position on the team.

Their current situation at work makes it hard for the couple to pick up where they left off. Misunderstandings and extreme competitive natures on both sides have Evie and Carter constantly trying to one-up and playfully sabotage each other as well. As hard as they try to bury their true feelings for each other, ultimately the building tension ends up coming to an impasse and the two end up sharing one wild night of passion together.

When Carter and Evie realize that what they feel for each other goes way beyond physical attraction, will they be able to keep their common career aspirations separate from their personal lives? Or will they yet again focus solely on their careers and neglect all other cts of their lives? Christina Lauren fans are sure to enjoy this one! Kindle: bit. View all 16 comments. A truly fantastic read! The writing was absolutely outstanding. Every few pages, I'd literally make these little notes to myself commenting on how amazing and strong the writing was.

The words flowed, the characterizations and descriptions were vivid, and it all rounded out by great editing. The pacing was on point, and the story was structured in such a way where I felt like I could see everything playing in my mind like a movie. It was snappy, witty, intelligent, and addictive!

Carter and Evie were both very strong, career-driven character and I loved their chemistry. I could feel it and my heart pitter-pattered through most of their scenes together. Their draw towards each other was palatable and I really loved their romance. Plus, I felt that the story gave a really fresh, modern portrayal of adulthood. He wraps his arms all the way around me, and I shiver a little when I feel the solidness of his body against mine.

My mom reminds me of this all the time, and of the balance it takes for two people to combine their lives into one. Over time, yeah, I can see some effort needing to come into play when the honeymoon phase wears off But initially, being with someone should feel like the best and most natural thing in the world. He smells amazing and holds me so tight, squeezing a little more just before letting go.

Straightening, he gazes down at my face. They've both sacrificed and worked hard to get to where they are and their respective reputations within their industry have been well earned. They're introduced at a party one night through a mutual friend and hit it off strong. He just shrugs, like this was a completely normal thing to say. After their first date confirms that their sizzling chemistry is something they both want to pursue, they're happily and dreamily heading into dating-ville when an unexpected and shocking change uproots their lives.

Their rival agencies merge overnight and suddenly they're being forced to compete for the same coveted position. They both need this job, they've both dedicated their lives to get this far, and they both have everything to lose and are determined not to give up. So their budding romance quickly turns into a competitive sabotage driven war I kind of went into this book expecting the whole thing to be a light-hearted, sexy enemies-to-lovers romp - almost more of a fun, fluffy read.

And yes, many parts of it were that.

question interesting

But there was a really cleverly-written undertone that really MADE this book in my eyes - and that was tackling the issue of sexism in the workplace. I don't think there's a woman alive who won't relate on some level to what Evie went through in this book.

Reserve, neither dating you hating you christina lauren read free online cleared apologise, but

There is an unspoken pecking order in agenting, defined primarily by who brings in the most publicity and money - and this year, that is likely to be me. But there are other factors, too. Such as: having a penis. At first, before I realized it to be one of the book's themes, I was just annoyed with how her boss was treating her - I thought his misogynist treatment of her was being used as a way to stir up drama.

How relevant. How incredibly fucking real it was. I was MAD. The way her boss treated her made my blood boil. In part, my drive to keep reading was just as much a visceral desire to see him get his comeuppance as it was my investment in the romance. And I was so impressed with the way this storyline was used to bringing attention to workplace sexism. There were no over-the-top outrageously things her boss did - it was aaaaaall about the subtleties and little comments, little actions.

So seeing Carter come to realize what was happening and seeing him choose how to handle it was incredible satisfying as a female reader. I didn't want to put it down. I was rooting for the romance and found myself strangely invested in even their work lives which is rare for me, since usually I only really care about the romance but I definitely credit the writing for the fact that all cts of this story were interesting.

However, I did find both the ending and the 'reveal' to be predictable so while nothing really came as a surprise to me, I still have to give major kudos to the authors for making this book addictive even though I knew what was going to happen. In a perfect world, I would have wanted the ending to have a bit more of a triumphant 'oooomph' and to surprise me a little, but even still, it delivered a satisfying and solid ending! This was a complete standalone told in alternating POVs in first person perspective.

It had both a fun, flirty, light-hearted, and sexy side to it, as well as a much more serious and raw undertone. I really enjoyed it! This book delivered the perfect blend of smart writing, sexy romance, and an addictive story! Whether you're a long-time fan of these authors or you're new to them, I'd definitely recommend trying this out!

Rating: 4. View 1 comment. Basic premise: Evie and Carter meet at a Halloween party and instantly hit it off. I loved their first meeting, which was filled with the awesome banter I think the writing duo has become known for: I can't stifle the laugh this time, and it tears from me, surprising him as it does everyone who has ever heard it. I am small but my laugh is mighty.

He stares at me with a slow-growing amused grin. The cackle is my gift. It keeps the delicate ones away. I promise. Your shoulders. Dodging calls from my parents. Texting a cute agent down the road. You know. When their companies merge, they realize they'll be fighting for the same position. And any romantic feelings they had start to become replaced with animosity, jealousy, and a bunch of humorous office pranks that leave them trying to constantly one up the other.

I'm so tired of wanting to shove him into the wall and then shove my hand down his pants. Because you like him, my brain teases in a sneering whisper. Really, really like him. My brain is such an asshole. As someone who works in an office setting, I can tell you I related to a lot of her issues and just wanted to high five the girl for all she put up with!

Carter was such a charismatic and sweet hero. There was no way Evie or me could help but fall for the guy. He's got charm in spades.

about still

I've got a few ideas. Small but mighty. Unassuming but poised. I really wish I could fucking see her without it feeling like I've had the wind knocked out of me. It would make feigning indifference so much easier. Shout out to all the side characters too! They were just fantastic especially Daryl. Dating you hating you is a great mix of witty banter, chemistry, and some angst and I of course recommend it to anyone who likes romance, enemies to lovers, and really - just well written books.

Dating You Hating You is out today!! After two companies have been merged, the heroine and the hero of this book find themselves competing to keep their job. To make matters worse they are very attracted to each other. So who is going to stay and who is going to take a hike? I didn't really finish reading this one because I was too bored to continue.

I think this book is more fitted for a RomCom movie vs. I would probably finish watching it too. But to dedicate hours of my life into reading it View all 20 comments. I was a bit on the fence when news about this book first came out because the blurb reminded me of The Hating Gameone of my absolute favorite books.

Two single talent agents in competing agencies meet at a Halloween party filled with couples. Despite their jobs, a connection is made, numbers are exchanged, and a week later, a date is set. This book made me so happy! The characters and situations were relatable, the characters likable, and the story had a great pace and flow that made me tear into this book page to page.

Finished this baby in one sitting! I wanted to weep when I was on the last page. Oh, the bittersweet feeling of finishing a book. This is definitely a more mature Christina Lauren, but the humor, effortless banter, great characters, and sizzling sexual tension are still there. I could feel the emotions seeping through the book-anger, joy, lust, longing. Plus, Carter made me swoon! And I loved reading about the injustices and sexism women still face in the industry regardless of their skills and talent.

Evie was a force to be reckoned with, I want to be like her one day. Christina Lauren fans and contemporary romance readers will definitely enjoy this entertaining, sexy, and laugh out loud book.

Christina Lauren is one of my favorite authors of all time, so it kills me to say I didn't really enjoy this book. I see a lot of people already comparing this book to The Hating Game but the only thing this book has in common with The Hating Game is that it's an office romance that follows a male and female lead who are competing for the same position. This book follows Evie and Carter and they are both talent agents in Hollywood, trying 2.

This book follows Evie and Carter and they are both talent agents in Hollywood, trying to find the next big thing in Hollywood. This storyline should be right up my alley because I love reading books that take place in Hollywood and involve the movie scene, but this book ended up being kind of boring I didn't really care for either Evie or Carter in this book, and I especially didn't care whether or not they ended up together.

I didn't see the chemistry between them, which is shocking because Christina Lauren has written some of my favorite fictional couples ever, but this one just didn't do it for me. Also, this story is so much more focused on the work and the business an their jobs than on the actual romance itself - which made it incredibly boring for me at times.

The way Evie and Carter would pick on each other was immature and childish, in an obnoxious way that got on my nerves. It got frustrating after so many times. The one thing I really liked about this book is how it talks about women vs. It really dives deep into this topic, and at times I thought it got a little too political for a new adult romance, but I appreciated it nonetheless. The ending was very predictable, I saw it coming from a mile away, and it was cheesy.
