Dear 3 struck, This is a tough one to go into here. Having previously been in a similar situation, i can relate to the confusion you BOTH are feeling. And why wouldn't it? Society really gives us few options in this regard. We are taught that either you dive head first into romance, or we remain flirty friends. I would venture to say that when both of you met, there was a lot of waffling on both sides and an uncertainty about committing.
There's no rulebook or strategy when it comes to dating someone and knowing the right time to finally pop the question and seal the deal with them. You could date for six years and feel too chill about making any sudden move to promise them a lifetime together forever.
Since there's no right time, right place or right moment in a relationship for a boyfriend to ask his SO if they are in it to win it, how do you know when to do it? Some guys don't.
Opinion you ive been dating a guy for 5 years are not
If you're wondering why that could be, check out what these 10 guys confess are the reasons why they haven't asked their long-term girlfriends to marry them. By Jen Glantz. I'm not really ready.
Jun 25, I've been "with" a married man for almost 5 years. We have 2 children together. Our son is 2yrs old & our daughter is 7mths and he just got divorced a couple of weeks ago. I've known him for over 20yrs. We re-connected in & I told him how I felt AFTER he told me he was getting divorced. You see how quickly that happened. After five years of dating, I told my boyfriend that if he didn't propose by Christmas, we were over. At the time, I considered this less a threat and more a way to expedite the inevitable. I've had relationships, just shorter ones. It's not like I haven't had contact with another person romantically or sexually for five years. I've had plenty of encounters. I've even had some relationships here and there-they've just been super short-lived. I think the longest was a whopping six weeks.
I've been with my girl for four years now. It seems like a really long time. It is. But I'm not sure I'm ready to get married right now and take things to the next level.
We are both only 24 so it's weird to me that we'd be married before we could even rent a car. Why complicate things? I've seen what marriage does to relationships.
All my friends from college got married in their twenties. They all found such sweet girls and then when they got married to them, everything got stale and lame.
May 16, I've been with my boyfriend for 5 years this June. We began our relationship at a rocky time in our lives, when we both had just graduated college and the economy was horrendous. We've only just begun to live together, but that's because we were both struggling with financially and couldn't make it . I've been dating a guy for 4 years - Find a man in my area! Marriage made things harder for them. I love my girlfriend. We've been together sincewhich is a long time and everything, but I just don't want to ruin the good stuff we have with marriage like they did.
The perfect moment will come. I want to get married but I haven't figured out how to propose.
I want that moment to be perfect. I want it to be in a way that she wants. But every time I get close to setting a date to do it and planning how I am going to do it, I freak out and decide to procrastinate.
That's what it is. I'm procrastinating because I'm a little nervous I'll screw the whole thing up. I don't have time or money.
Weddings are expensive and take up so much time to put together.
Jul 30, Hi Miss anonymous thank you for your question. I think there is so many different levels to love and different types of love. If you're looking at somebody and expecting to see you crazy in love with them I don't think that's realistic. That excit. Jul 01, I've been in a long relationship with my girlfriend for close to three years now. I love her, don't get me wrong. But a part of me, a very small part, is kind of keeping my options open.
It's like we've already lived together for over three years now and we're just trying to work hard at our own careers that we, or I at least, feel like a wedding right now would just be such a stressor on ourselves and our bank accounts. I have a lot of hope, but sometimes I also have hopelessness.
This will all benefit me when I start seeing someone. In the past, when I was in a lot of relationships, I was with the wrong people.
